Bitfocus, the company behind Clarity Human Services, is pleased to announce our partnership with the Contra Costa CoC. We are excited to be a part of their innovative plans to address homelessness in their community.
The Contra Costa plan to end homelessness is data-driven and comprehensive.
“Homelessness is a housing-first issue, and necessary supports and services are critical to help people remain housed. Our system must be nimble and flexible enough to respond through the shared responsibility, accountability, and transparency of the community.”

This past weekend (August 12-14), Bitfocus, Inc., attended a DataDive event organized by DataKind San Francisco-Bay Area (DataKind SF). This event brings volunteers and data scientists together to learn from and improve various data projects from mission-driven organizations—including the work Bitfocus is doing through our partnership with Santa Clara County.
Bitfocus team member Jason Satterfield (Director of Policy & Evaluation) and Santa Clara County’s Hilary Barroga (Project Lead / CoC Quality Improvement Manager) presented at the DataDive event. Jason and Hilary shared what Santa Clara County has done to reduce homelessness in their community, presenting 7 years of homelessness data. Read more...

State of Washington’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness
We are excited to join Washington’s journey as they work to end homelessness by 2018. Washington has embraced an overarching policy principle: homelessness is as a complex socio-economic problem that requires a multi-part and permanent solution.
As such, the State of Washington has developed new innovations to address homelessness, including cutting edge models of supportive housing, such as their local Safe Haven Program where permanent “low threshold” harm reduction housing is offered to men and women with dual diagnosis of mental illness and substance abuse. Welcome Santa Clara County!
Santa Clara County has promising strategies to end homelessness in their community. They have embraced the concept of innovation in homelessness services, and they are breaking barriers with their new approach to provide accessible and affordable housing.
Santa Clara knew that they needed to partner with a likeminded HMIS vendor that also values the power of innovation in order for their efforts to be successful. This is why they enlisted Bitfocus Inc. to fulfill the HMIS System Administration role, utilizing the Clarity Human Services HMIS. Read more...

Bitfocus, Inc. and the Veterans Affairs Southern Nevada Healthcare System are proud to announce their newly established partnership! The VA is now participating in the Clarity Human Services HMIS for the State of Nevada.
William Caron, Acting VA Medical Center Director of the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, officially signs the Nevada Statewide HMIS Memorandum of Understanding and Data Sharing Agreement, which will enable the Southern Nevada VA to conduct direct data entry into the Nevada Statewide Clarity Human Services HMIS
Earlier this week, the Veterans Affairs Southern Nevada Healthcare System signed a Nevada Statewide HMIS Memorandum of Understanding and Data Sharing Agreement, which will enable the Southern Nevada VA to conduct direct data entry into the Nevada Statewide Clarity Human Services HMIS
This partnership means that Veteran data will now be included in all coordinated entry processes for Southern Nevada. Read more...

Clarity Human Services extends a warm welcome to Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, Inc. and its Continuum of Care.
The Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, Inc. (CMHA) established in 1994, leads a collaborative response to homelessness that fosters long-term housing stability through prevention, quality services, education and advocacy in their community.
Among other services, they provide education and information to tenants and landlords as to their housing rights and responsibilities. They also host the Donations Clearinghouse, which provides furniture and household goods to help make a house a home. Read more...

Coordinated Assessment is crucial to meeting your community goal to end homelessness. However, planning and organizing the numerous intricacies of Coordinated Assessment are difficult tasks.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HUD) has recently released several resources providing additional guidance over Coordinated Assessment. We have provided the links to these resources below.
Notice CPD-014-12: Notice on Prioritizing Persons Experiencing Chronic Homelessness in Permanent Supportive Housing and Recordkeeping Requirements for Documenting Chronic Homeless Status.
HUD provides this guidance regarding prioritization for permanent supportive housing (PSH), particularly around the order in which eligible households should be served in all CoC Program-funded PSH. Read more...

Clarity Human Services extends a warm welcome the Chico, Paradise, and Butte County CoC located in Butte County, California
The Chico, Paradise, and Butte County CoC serves as a collaborative planning and networking group of local homeless services organizations and other entities dedicated to ending homelessness in the region of Butte County, California.
Their efforts include numerous projects and programs that enable those who are experiencing homelessness or those who are at risk of homelessness to achieve self-sufficiency.
